THE SWEETEST ENFANT TERRIBLE

I styled this short film directed by George Harvey and starring Sergei Polunin. It was all pretty serendipitous as i had read and been really taken with this article about Sergei in Intelligent life in Paris a year ago. According to the piece he was the enfant terrible of the dance world and I remember thinking it sounded like quite the juxtapostion of worlds... and how someone could feasibly exist in a universe that demanded him to do as he was told...when it seemed that he only did whatever he wanted or was driven to do.

The best thing about two of Sergei's distinctive tattoos is that  he didn't know who they were when he got their faces etched on his skin forever. One is James Dean and the other one is Joker from Batman. Contrary to his rebel badass profile, he was actually sweet as a slice of peach pie.

MAKIN PAPER

I recently bought a camera from a very good friend of mine Jacob Lillis....i have written about him quite a lot because he is really funny and his photographs are beautiful.

Anyway i took 3 rolls of film with me to upstate New York for the 4th July...i got one back that was blank because i didn't wind it on...and out of the other 2 rolls i got 5 good pictures...

This one was taken in the dark when we were all looking at the stars at the bottom of the garden. I swear the stars upstate are bigger and brighter and just more!

The thing is I've had the camera for months...but couldn't quite bring myself to take any pictures. It's the same with making my first film...i'm scared of that too.....its takes a very long to time to stop being scared of yourself....it's like jumping off a bridge into a river....you either do it straight away or you mince about for hours doing fuck all. In the case of bigger things its more like weeks and months than hours though.

TURTLES FOR TOBY

So if you can imagine each person is an island....



....in the middle of the ocean....

..and each one is packed with coconuts and palm trees and some of them have meerkats on them (ie..these are human pets, they are only allowed be on the islands because they have the capacity to love unconditionally like dogs).

So there you are on your island and the ocean is lapping all the way around it and it's a peaceful beautiful place but sometimes as with all places of paradise there are storms and things get blown away and broken up and some things even get drowned.



...and every once in a while a turtle (another human) will swim out of the sea and they will hang out on your island laying around on the sand getting all hot. Then maybe (and not always) that turtle will lay a few eggs and then they will go away and one night not long after that, by the light of a full moon the eggs hatch out and those guys they just swim straight into the sea.

...and no matter what you think about life and love that's just the way it goes and you come into this world alone and you will leave it alone and all of the misconceptions that you're not alone in the middle part...well they are just illusions (and if your island is tropical and hot they could also be called mirages).

That's why we invented god and jesus to stop us being so scared all the time. So we created a guy that is....

1.invisible
2.controls everything (including the weather)
3. loves you unconditionally even if you kill other people
4. can cure sick people
5. can make sure you get into heaven

Jesus is a comfort blanket that you have had since you were born.... you love how it smells and it helps you to sleep and it feels good on your face but it's like you can't get rid of it and if you actually tried to then you would probably just get struck by the greatest most earth shattering fork of pure lightening from the sky and fall down dead right on top of that little bit of charred earth and that would be that. That's what the fear of god feels like.

TWIN VI

Latest cover story for Twin with big bear Ben Weller and model Yumi Lambert @ IMG models. Produced by the best producer in town Laura Holmes who litereally makes me think all other production is terrible. Her team are awesome. Also we got to go to a beautiful farm house and hang out with the super cool family that lived there. We had a squealing incontinent piglet and a toad called Trevor who was a cool little dude. The set was designed by Poppy Bartlett and hair and make up was by my fav team of Tina Outen (the hair wizard) and make up by my girl crush unicorn Niamh Quinn.

SUPER SIMONE

It was so good to work on this shoot with one of my favourite photographers Mel Bles and with one of my favourite designers Simone Rocha. Rosie was just the right mix of sweet and tough for Simone's AW13 collection...bittersweet.

TOPMAN FESTY FILM

Film I styled for Topman's festival season. Was so fun to work with these guys Tim&Joe  and our model Leebo from FM models, who totally nailed it with the most energy and enthusiasm ever known to man. He was also a total sweetheart and a pure pleasure to work with.  

BAN DEARG

Ban means white in Gaelic and Dearg means red....and when you put the words Ban Dearg together it means pink :)
